Brown Vs Board of Education:With the outcome of Brown V. Board of education, schools across America were meant to desegregate. In Chicago this was never meaningfully carried out, and schools remain heavily segregated to this day. (IRRPP 12)
School Finance Authority was founded:The SFA was created in response to the massive debts CPS was suffering from. It was a five person board which approved budgets put forward by the school board. CPS was also able to borrow through the SFA, which helped the financial situation. This was a part of a shift towards centralizing power in CPS.
